« on: Saturday 08 June 24 19:45 BST (UK) »
Hi ...Looking for info on Patrick Mcguire 's parents ,Patrick was born in Ireland between 1877 and 1880(I have some saying he was born 1877 others saying 1880 so not sure)he eventually went to Scotland and married Fanny Harkins born 1879,they went on to have 4 sons Arthur(B-1908),William(B-1910),Peter(B-1906) and Patrick(B-1911) and 1 daughter Margaret(B-1913)all born in Scotland could have had more but it's all I can find so far, from what i can gather his parents were maybe born 1849(Father) and 1847(Mother) in Ireland but hitting a brick wall with their names and where in Ireland they were born. Fanny's parents were Daniel Harkins(1851-1910) and Margaret McBride(1852-1908) both Scottish, it's Patricks side I am trying to trace and also the place in Ireland Patrick was born again have some saying Donegal others Dublin and also where in Scotland Patrick is burried any info and of where i can get info is much appreciated Thanks

Dates and spelling was very fluid so best to keep an open mind when searching. You can search births 1864 onwards here-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp
Are Patrick's parents not listed on the marriage certificate? if the marriage was in Scotland they should be. If you don't know their names I'm not sure how you can assume when they were born.
When and where did Patrick die? there should be helpful details on that certificate but accuracy depends on knowledge of informant.
What about census records- they may all just give 'Ireland' as place of birth but the age listed might help searching in Irish records. In Scotland in 1911 and 1921? He might also be living in Scotland before marriage (1901 census or earlier)
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Patrick married in Hamilton in 1901 GROS ref: 647/95. That should give you his parents names, occupations and whether they were alive or dead in 1901.

Have you checked the 1911 Scottish census? That may show where in Ireland Patrick was born. The family look to be in Hamilton: Patrick 29, Frances 31, Daniel 8, Frances 6, James 4, Arthur 2. GROS ref 647/29/28.

The Scottish 1921 census might also give you more information. Again in Hamilton:

Patrick 42, David 19, Frances 16, James 14, Arthur 12, Patrick 10, Margaret 8, Annie 2.
GROS ref 647/33/26.

Possible death for Frances in Dennistoun 1919 aged 38.
