Corporal Robert Wallace, born Omagh 3 JAN 1914 died WWII
« on: Thursday 27 June 24 23:09 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone

Robert Wallace was born 3 JAN 1914 in Omagh to Charlotte Wallace.  She wasn't married so I don't have his father's name.  They are in my family tree through marriage but I've been contacted by the CWGC Venray War Cemetery Foundation in the Netherlands where Robert is buried.  He was killed in action 5 November 1944.  They would like to find closer relatives than me.

Charlotte's parents were Robert Wallace and Sarah Ann Baxter.  Charlotte went on to marry Joseph Quigley in 1925 in Knockmoyle RC CH, Omagh.  I don't know if they had any children.  Charlotte's siblings were Robert, Sarah, John and Margaret Wallace.  John Wallace married Margaret Mellon, also from Omagh.

I'm hoping that these names sound familiar to someone out there.
Thanks in advance

Just adding the following, in case it triggers a response.

Charlotte's sister Sarah Jane Wallace can be closed off as a line of research to take forward, for she died in 1904:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1904/05628/4583256.pdf

The informant of her death was her sister Rebecca, who was the unnamed daughter whose birth was registered for parents Robert Wallace and Sarah Ann Baxter in 1881 (however I've seen a corresponding transcript of a baptism that confirms her name was Rebecca). Rebecca married Andrew Wilson in 1905:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1905/10182/5704549.pdf

She had a son Robert John the same year (died 1908), a son Andrew James in 1909 and a son David in 1911, after the census was taken:
https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Tyrone/Clanabogan/Ballygowan/873970/

Rebecca died in 1915, her brother J.J. Wallace of Lisanelly was the informant:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1915/05281/4466923.pdf

On another tack... in the 1914 birth registration for Charlotte's son Robert, she was described as a domestic servant.  Given how uncommon that forename-surname combination was (for example, there was only one in Co. Tyrone in the 1911 Ireland census), the following birth of a Sarah Wallace in 1920 has to be a possible sister of the 1914 Robert:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1920/01208/1502396.pdf

Finally, items in Belfast and Londonderry newspapers in March 1945 reporting the death of Corporal Robert Wallace, referred to him as a "nephew" of Robert Wallace of Lisanelly, there was no mention of anyone else unfortunately. He had had almost 10 years service with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, before the K.O.S.B.
