Help with the Batten family please

I need some advice on this family.
Robert Batten born 1878 Yarcombe Devon, in 1910 he married Lucy Jane Doble born 1872 also in Yarcombe.
Now the mystery
They appear to have had 2 sons
 Robert Noah Maurice Batten born 1912 died on the 21 Feb 1922 age 9
Dick also born 1912 on the 8th April, died 1987 Honiton, Dick is living with his mother on the 1939 reg.
First thought twins but Dick was reg Apr-May-June and Robert was reg Oct-Nov-Dec.
Any advice would be appreciated

Could they be from different sets of parents?  ie two Batten gentlemen marrying two Doble ladies 

Have you the birth for either of them to confirm parents names?

If you use FreeBMD with surnames Batten and Doble, you will find more than one marriage in Yarcombe - Ancestry have a 1908 marriage between Samuel Batten and Elizabeth Bessie Doble.  Samuel's father is named as Eli.

Check the 1939 again for the notes on the right hand side Helina and all will become clear!

Yes, so Dick is a nephew, very likely a son of Elizabeth and Samuel.  I am working though the brothers have not started on Samuel yet,

Elizabeth B Doble was a sister to Lucy - parents George & Elizabeth. 

Mothers maiden name Broom.

Samuel Batten and Robert both have mothers maiden name Corner.

Yes Eli and Mary Batten had 7 children

William 1876-1956
Robert 1878-1937
John 1879-1900 (killed in the Boar war)
Samuel b 1882
Louisa b 1886
Thomas b1889
Jessie b 1903.
