searching for Thomas Jones !
« on: Wednesday 11 September 24 19:34 BST (UK) »
fresh eyes needed please . Jones and Wales  ::)

I have spent hours on this and got nothing conclusive. Apart from the common names I don`t know the area. I am trying to find Edward and Thomas  and who was his mother.
I know some census records for 1861 are missing
This is what I do have for sure.
On 13 November 1870 Edward Jones  aged 19 a  collier married Priscilla Griffiths 20 at Blaina Monmouthshire.  Both resident at  Nantyglo
His father was Thomas Jones a  collier.  Priscilla`s father was  John Griffiths a  sawyer.
The witnesses were Farnum Flower and Elizabeth Bevan.

1871 Ivorites  Arms, Abertillery, Aberystruth,  Monmouthshire
John Griffiths 55 sawyer b Leominster Hereford .
Mary Griffiths 56 b  Kington   Hereford
Also at this address are
Edward Jones 20 coal miner b Maindee, Monmouthshire
Priscilla Jones   20 Crumlin, Monmouthshire,

Priscilla died in 1885, Edward remarried and all census records  after then he states he was born in Newport.
1893 Edward Jones  otp  Residence Place   Blaina
Marriage Banns Date   2 Jul 1893 Blaina, Monmouthshire, Wales
Marriage Date   1893 Residence Place   Blaina
Spouse    Mary Jane Prouse spinster Clifton St Pauls.

Edward Jones Age 42 Birth Date   1851
Marriage 4 Sep 1893 Marriage Place   St. Pauls, Clifton, Gloucester
Father    Thomas Jones
Spouse    Mary Jane Prowse

Still alive in 1911
1911  Blaenau Gwent Monmouthshire Married 18 years 2  children  b and alive 1893
Edward Jones   60 colliery fireman b Newport
Mary Jane Jones 56 b Bristol Somerset

I know these are correct as I have the marriage certificate of his daughter Annie Jones in 1897 when he is a colliery fireman

1891 Abertillery
Edward Jones 39 widower overman coal winder  b Newport
Mary Jones 19 b Llanhilleth
* Annie Jones   13   Abertillery
Edward Jones 8 b Abertillery
Maggie Jones 21 visitor

1891 census there is a visitor with family,  Maggie Jones, single, born circa 1870 Lower Cwmbran Mon, trying to figure who she is...

Don't think it is the daughter Margaret as she would be around 17 and there is a possible in Monmouthshire of her working as a servant.

Looking at the witness for first marriage Farnum Flower married Mary Griffiths, so likely on Priscilla side. Elizabeth Bevan looks like she may have possible surname nee James...so not much help... :-\

What year was FFs marriage.  1877 he married Mary Rogers.
Unless there was a second marriage.
