Jane CASKEY
« on: Friday 13 September 24 00:05 BST (UK) »
I am researching my 3 times great grandmother, Jane CASKEY (married name).  She married Paul CASKEY in about 1810/1811 in Coleraine.  No record of her marriage exists.  But a newspaper notice in "The Coleraine Chronicle" of 26 November 1870 has a Death entry:  "Caskey - At Camm, on the 20th inst., Jane, wife of Mr Paul Caskey, age 80 years."

I have seen a number of family trees which have Jane as one of the daughters of Hugh BELLAS and Elizabeth KING.  I have not found any records to confirm this.

Is anyone able to help, please?

Chris

Death of Paul Caskey in 1872- informant was son James (see below)-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1872/020750/7279887.pdf

The Caskeys were members of Killaig Presbyterian Church. Communicants List- 1818/1819- show a Paul and a Jean Caskey (this is more than likely Paul and his wife Jane).
Children of Paul Caskey, Cam-
- Margaret bapt.20 Dec.1810 (aged 3 weeks)
- Jean bapt.29 Nov.1812
- James bapt.15 June 1815 (children of James bapt. from 1844 onwards)
- Paul bapt. 25 Apr.1828 (6-7 weeks old)
- William bapt. 12 Feb.1835

17 Aug.1841 Eliza Caskey (father- Paul, farmer) m. Hugh Williamson
12 Nov.1844 Hanna Caskey, father- Paul) m. Thomas Finley

From civil registration- Rebecca Ann Caskey, age 24 [born c1833], Camm, daughter of Paul Caskey, farmer, married Hugh Gage Moody of Cashel on 28 July 1857 at Ringsend Presbyterian Church.

Joseph Caskey, son of Paul, m.(1848 Crossgar Presbyterian Church) Margaret Ann Black-

Unfortunately Rev. Bryce was better at recording baptisms than marriages so there is no record of Paul's marriage there. I can't think of any Bellas family in the immediate area and would be suspicious of her parents being Hugh Bellas & Elizabeth King.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

A son William married Mary Ramsay in 1870:

NAI has the family recorded under 'Cutley' in the 1831 Ireland census fragments (1834):
