Grandfather's MSS ????
« on: Saturday 14 September 24 15:35 BST (UK) »
Within this envelope are 15 pages of recollections by 'grandfather' and written on the envelope is 'Grandfather's MSS (copy)'. Does anyone know what MSS might stand for? Thanks.

And I'd agree with that - manuscripts.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Just a further thought - DON'T LOSE THEM.  Such items are irreplaceable.

It’s amazing they still survive today - they were discovered in an old suitcase in a partially collapsed loft in an house which had apparently been cleared a few years ago. They refer to events as far back as the 1840’s, and ancestors born in the late 1700’s, so a real treasure find for my family history.
