Help deciphering occupation 1881 Census
« on: Tuesday 17 September 24 11:37 BST (UK) »
Good morning all,

I was hoping someone could help with the occupation of my GGG Grandfather on the 1881 census.
His occupation has been transcribed on ancestry as "canvasser for pickles" which sounds like a fabulous job but needless to say I don't think it's correct. In the 1871 census he is listed as a brush seller.

Could we have the address that the census entry relates to, please?

Wonder if it could be canvasser for Peebles.

There are a family in London called Peebles - papermaker, employer of 36 males in 1881.
