Sydney Walter L Anderson was a little older than you think. He was born 1920 in Gloucester,married Pamela Sep qtr 1946 and died Feb 1986.
His parents are Cyril Francis Anderson 12.1.1890 Birmingham -25.2.1955 Worcester a rivetter and Elsie May Messenger born 10th Dec 1890-93 Hardwick Gloucestershire-Mar 1958 Gloucester.
The couple had married at Christ Church Gloucester 26.4.1913.

They went on to have Enid Elizabeth DOB 2.10.1913,Norah agnes 5.3.1915 Worcester ,Sydney Walter L 3.5.1920 ,Cyril Francis 1922 ,Edwin Richard C 1925 and possibly Anthony 1932 and Royston E 1936.
The gap is due to his war service with the Royal Engineers Inland Waterways and Docks Company.He returned to the family after WWI but things did not go well.
It looks like the couple split in 1925 and latter divorced.
Cyril went on to marry the widowed Minnie Norcott 1.1.1889-14.5. 1973 and they have 2 children with them in Worcester in 1939 ,one Norcott and one Anderson.They married Sep 1946.
Elsie wenton to marry Mar 1946 to Edward A Cook DOB 21.8.1889 whom she is living with in 1939 ,in Gloucester. The youngest 2 children may be his.Walter remained with his mother.
