Mckigney / McKegney Aghaloo parish Tyrone
« on: Tuesday 01 October 24 02:54 BST (UK) »
Hi there,

I have a relative Martha Jane Mckigley, Married Wiliam Garret 1st Nov 1850 in Tyrone Aghaloo
Dies in 1910 Armagh. She record shes born in tyrone on 1901 census and is 70.

her daughter Margaret (b 31st oct 1875) married James (Thomas) McAnulty in 1901.
they had my GG grandmother Martha Jane McAnulty in Armagh.

Martha Jane Mckigley has been linked to a 'john mckigley' on ancestry - it may say John on her marrige cert but I cannot make it out to be sure.
A couple of people on Ancestry have said her mother is Mary Oliver but the dates do not match up, Mary Oliver would have been very young. There is a Mary Oliver getting married to a John McKigley of aghaloo but i found her baptism record and i think she'd have been too young. Another record has Ellen online but no reason why.

Her father "john" Mckigley is listed as a farmer.
I know there is a Felix McKigney,  Adam Mckigley in Aghaloo the same time as a John McKigley.

Does anyone have more information on McKigleys from this area?
There is ots on ancestry but some of the siblings that are said to be of martha jane dont even have a john mckigley as their father on their marriage rec.

wondering if there is 2 Mary Olivers in the area two, and people have linked the wrong one

I cant find any Mckigleys being discussed on the forum

This is Martha's marriage record.

I believe her father is Jno (John), a farmer.

The John McKigney who married Mary Oliver in 1846 has the same address ( Lismulladown) as on Martha's marriage record - possibly a brother? He was a bachelor.

Possible death for John McKigney in 1864. You would need to see the record to be sure it is for the correct man.

Hi yes I was thinking the john that married Mary Oliver was a brother, not her father, it would suggest they're roman Catholic and Martha married into a protestant family - gave me a bit of hope she'd be mentioned in older church records but no joy so far
