Welsh translation please - short obit
« on: Saturday 05 October 24 09:45 BST (UK) »
I found this death notice for a direct ancestor in a Welsh language paper.  It's definitely her, and I transcribed it and put it through Google Translate and what came back was coherent, but I'd be so grateful if someone who actually knows Welsh is willing to take a look at it for me.  Thank you! (It's about 60 words.)

Quote
MARWOLEATH. Rhagfyr 31, 1873, yn 72 mlwydd oed, Anne Joseph, Garthfach Farm, Glais.  Yr oedd yr ymadawedig yn fenyw dawel a hawddgar, a phawb yn ei charu ar gyfrif ei rhinweddan.  Yr oedd yn fam dirion ac anwyl, a chaiff y plant golled fawr ar ei hol.  Vladdwyd hi yn anrhyddedus gan y Parch.  Mr. Owens, Clydach.  Heddwch i'w llwch. - GWILYM AB SAMLED.

Google Translate:
Quote

She was a kind and loving mother, and the children will miss her greatly. She was honorably buried by Rev. Mr. Owens, Clydach. Rest in peace. - GWILYM AB SAMLED

I'd agree, especially as there's a couple of small errors in the transcription

Thank you very much, both of you!  (And, oh dear, I'm always making typos, even in English.  I'll have to fix that!)

Sorry - I'd assumed it was the OCR text from the Welsh newspapers site which often gets letters mixed up

Ha, no worries!  I am glad to know rather than not. :)
