Flavell or Flavill of Gornal and Sedgley

I have been looking for the baptism of a Benjamin Flavill who married Esther Standley in Sedgley parish church in 1766. There seem to be a lot of Flavells in the Gornal area (Upper/Lower and Gornal Wood). In fact Benjamin and Esther lived at Over Gornal and Gornal Wood and a place called Rowarton at the time of their children's baptisms. I cannot locate a Rowarton anywhere and was wondering if this could possibly be a mistake for Ruiton. Benjamin was a nailer, a common trade in the Gornal area.

Any one have any connections please or know where I can access records that might answer this question?

Familysearch.org have a Benjamin, ('Benj'), Flavill baptised 26 June 1743 at Sedgley.
Father John Flavill, mother Sarah Atkis, married 26 Dec 1739 at Sedgley.

Plus more generations going back several generations.
You would need to verify all this of course. (some of the people given look a bit unlikely to me - but you never know!)


Unfortunately the Sedgley parish films on familysearch.org are locked and can only be viewed at an LDS family history library or affiliate library.

freereg.org has some earlier and later baptisms but not done 1740 - 1770. (Nor burials these same dates)

John FLAVELL married Sarah ATKISS 26 Dec 1739 All Saints, Sedgley as found earlier.

Bapts on FreeREG to John/Sarah;
James 5 Oct 1740 abode Cotwallend, Father a Nailer
Benjamin 26 June 1743 abode Gornalwood

SARAH Wife of JOHN Flavill buried 10 Feb 1744/45, abode Gornalwood

There is a Elizabeth HICKMANS/John FLAVILL Marriage 4 Jul 1749   but doesn't state if a Widower.
So hard to confirm its him.
