Wilkins Australia
« on: Friday 18 October 24 17:54 BST (UK) »
I need some help to find out about 2 ancestors of mine from Victoria Australia.
Bertie Harold Wilkins 1926-1977
Reginald Edward Wilkins 1930-?
Parents:  Harold John Wilkins 1905-1964  Lucy Grace Davis 1901-1970
I'm trying to find out if they got married or if they had any children.  Thanks

A tree on Ancestry shows Bertie died 3.10.1997 - not 1977 - Portland Victoria.  The tree mentions other siblings but not a Reginald Edward although it shows a sibling entry as “private”  & shows that person as living

If they married - any children may still be alive in which case no details can be given

Bertie Harold WILKINS appears with his brother on the 1977 electoral roll at Edithvale, Victoria. There are 2 females at the same address - could be spouses of either. I don't want to put their names as not sure that they are not still living.

On the 1980 electoral roll at the same address are the 2 brothers and only 1 female.

Thanks everyone for your replies.  I found the electoral rolls and am certain that the one lady was Reginald's wife but can find no marriage for them.  Again, the same for Bertie.  I don't understand why I haven't been able to find the marriages as I've found one for a member of the same family who married a lot later.  I could be wrong but am guessing that it's highly unlikely their spouses would still be alive.  I haven't found death records for them either.  The search continues!

Maddys52 found Bertie's death on findagrave, he died 1997. You won't find a death index for him due to the cut off times.

Death   30 years after the date of death

Marriage and Registered relationship   60 years after the date of marriage or relationship registration

I went to a funeral last week for a friend who was born in 1920, so these people could well be still alive.  :)

There is a will and probate for a Joyce WILKINS who died in 1990 at Frankston - not too far from Edithvale.

However, on the Vic BDM her spouse is given as Cyril Leonard SIGGINS (they married in 1946, he died in 1952). Perhaps there has been a typo somewhere?

Just a possibility.

Thanks Maddy
Joyce Wilkins is the lady who was at the same address as Reginald on the electoral rolls and on another with Bertie as well.  Will follow up your suggestion :)
