Request for Assistance
« on: Wednesday 20 November 24 22:03 GMT (UK) »
I am helping a friend research his Paternal side of the family.  His Grandfather was Michael Nugent a Good's Foreman and his wife Bridget O'Mahoney or Mahoney. They lived on 3 Emmett Place in Waterford in 1922 when they had a daughter (my friend's) Mother. I can't find any other information on other children of Michael and Bridget or if they always lived in Waterford.  They were of the Catholic faith but I don't know what parish to query so I'm at a loss on how I can go back further and get more information on the Grandparents.  Can anyone advise where else I could look.

Greatly appreciated and thank you.

Bridget died 1948 with age given as 62, so born c1886, if Michael is around the age the 1911 census found looks good.

Michael died in Kempton Bedford England when working in a brick factory in 1947, the Irish Examiner says he was 59 and son of Capt William Nugent and the late Mrs Nugent Faithlegge.

Buried Faithlegge.

There is more in the newspapers which explains why he was working in England I’ll send a PM when I get a chance to read through it all.

Not easy to pinpoint Bridget O’Mahony in the census.

I think this might be her in 1901 in Kilsheelan, which is her address when she married

This would be her mother and brothers again in 1911 still in Kilsheelan.

This might be Bridget working as a domestic servant in 1911. When she married she was a ‘house maid”.
