Just an observation - I'm sure that Garrary  is in Minnigaff parish and this was in  Kells parish. Both parishes were in Kirkudbrightshire.

add - There is a Garraray burn that runs through Minnigaff parish. Maybe it crosses into Kells parish.

I've found Garrary on an old Ainslie map and it its possible that it might be in Kells parish

In the ordnance Survey Name books, there are various mentions of the farm of Garrary in the Parish of Kells.

I think there was more than one Garrary settlement/farms at the time I was investigating (and before) e.g. Upper Garraay and Mid Garrary.  The parish boundary isn't shown on the maps i've looked at. Certainly, some family info suggests that the Wilsons came from  Minnigaff , Dalry and Kells. These parishes  all share borders!

Here's a current map .

https://tinyurl.com/55wj5nm9

The Galloway Forest part  lies between Mid Garrary and Minnigaff, and New Galloway is to the East. I've walked through various parts of the Forest Park. Much of this woodland was planted after the dates that I'm interested in so it's difficult to identify the parish boundaries.

There must be some more detailed boundary maps than the ones usually shown***. I'll investigate further.

Thanks for your input  :)
