Help Sought -Henry Kirtley born 1832 of Henry Kirtley and Ann Hutton
« on: Monday 09 December 24 03:04 GMT (UK) »
Hello Fellow Searchers,

I am in need of serious help. I am at my witts end.

I have much information on the above but what I am seeking help with is Henry's exit from England to Australia somewhere in between 1872 -1878. I cannot locate him leaving England or arriving in Australia - although I know for sure he was in Australia 1878 Adelaide. (There is a Henry that came out in as a Bootmaker but I doubt that was him, then again..)

He had an uncle that was a shipwright and I'm thinking that perhaps he helped him out undetected.

He exits Australia in 1905 - don't know when mid year perhaps and have no idea where he went to.
I thought perhaps to be buried with his wife Sara Maria but unable to locate her burial in England.

I am looking for the exits and arrivals of Henry.

This has been a lifetime search Literally, My Grandmother died without finding him.

Someone, somewhere has to know something. Please if you can help I would be eternally grateful.

Thank you

Was he in Australia by himself, or with family?

Can you expand on the information you are giving this forum to work with.

* What are the events, 1872 and 1878, that serve as time references here -

"..from England to Australia somewhere in between 1872 -1878".

* Do you have an occupation for him?
"There is a Henry that came out in as a Bootmaker but I doubt that was him, then again.."

* Where/how do you see him leaving Australia, and in 1905?
"He exits Australia in 1905 - don't know when mid year perhaps and have no idea where he went to."

What are the events, 1872 and 1878, that serve as time references here -

"..from England to Australia somewhere in between 1872 -1878".
His wife Sarah Maria died on 13 Feb 1872 and Aug/Sept 1872 his baby died

His daughter Isabella Kate married 1877 and her brother and sister were the witnesses to the marriage - which leads me to believe he had already left.
Through census his children are scattered with the youngest female living with family member and the youngest boy Thomas living with his older brother as boarders.

* Do you have an occupation for him?
Henry worked for the railways - he was an engine fitter - there are more than one henry involved here
"There is a Henry that came out in as a Bootmaker 1878 but I doubt that was him, then again.."
I found an entry for Henry Kirtley occupation listed as Bootmaker arriving Australia 1878

* Where/how do you see him leaving Australia, and in 1905?
I don't. He was living at an address owned by a family member in 1905. Then he completely disappears again no trace. (People are searching for him 1905 with notices in the newspaper.)

I have searched crew lists for ships and found one but it was the wrong age and wrong place of birth.

Births deaths and marriages have been searched repeatedly over the years - conversations with people that work there - in ALL states have looked and said that he did not die here as there is no record at all of him doing so.

I thought that perhaps he returned to family members to pass - but checking the deaths - the dates don't fit the age.
