Hi, I am trying to fathom out discrepancies I have encountered with regard to my 2 x great grandmother Isabella Wardropper (1855 - 1890). Following up, and verifying, various leads on different websites I believed that her parents were John Wardropper and Margaret Rattery. However, I have now seen her original marriage certificate to Jeremiah Clish on 8 June 1872, at a register Office in the Houghton-le-Spring district, which lists her father as James Wardropper an agricultural labourer from Easington Lane, who was deceased at the time of Isabella's marriage. John Wardropper was an engine man on steamboats, lived in Sunderland and was alive at the time of Isabella's marriage.
Thus there at three discrepancies: the first name, the place, the occupation and whether or not Isabella's father was alive when she married. While I have been able to find a lot of information about John, I have not found information about James - I have checked the GRO Index and cannot find a James Wardropper who died in the period just before Isabella was born and the time she married. Can anyone help me solve this conundrum? Regards, DeeDutch
