Thank you Anne, re info for the debit cards. This is not a problem. I have been told that the GRO will not accept overseas credit cards.
As far as booking for Herefordshire. I am in Oregon USA so not possible,
I will do it the hard way by snail mail

No problem. Can you tell me if the cost is the same for online? I can have my sister do this from England if it is cheaper.

Alan
I wanted you to know that you received the marriage certs back today for Clare Williams and TB Jones and they are indeed my grandparents. Now I have the name of both their parents I can look for them in Wales.
You saved me so much time and headaches
Thanks

Glad to have been of help Joy.  I'm so pleased that the certificate you received turned out to be the right one.  Let me know if I can be of any further help in tracing your family back, I have access to some of the 19th century censues for England & Wales which could be useful.

Joy,

I've found a very likely looking family in the 1901 & 1891 censuses for Wales:

1901 Census, Glamorgan, Wales

Ref: RG13/5045 Folio 33 Pages 57 & 58

Address: 7 Chappel Lee?, Llandyfodwg, Nantymoel?, Glamorgan

Robert WILLIAMS, Head, 37, Colliery Engine Driver, b. Glam. Merthyr
Alice WILLIAMS, Wife, 37, b. Glam. Cardiff
Wm. J WILLIAMS, Son, 12, b. Glam. Nantymoel?
Rosalind A WILLIAMS, Dau, 10, b. ditto diito
Clara WILLIAMS, Dau, 8, b. ditto ditto
Elsie S WILLIAMS, Dau, 5, b. Glam. Nanty Moel?

Note that Clare is Clara again - there are no Clare Williams in the 1901 census so it looks as though the name Clare was not common until some years later.  I think this indicates that your ancestor's name was probably Clara even if she was known as Clare in the family.  Also Roselyn is recorded as Rosalind.

I haven't tried to find Nantymoel or Nanty Moel on the map yet but it appears to be written as one word on page 53 where most of the family is listed and as two words on page 54 as the birthplace of Elsie.  It might be worth trying to find the place at www.multimap.com .

This looks like the same family in the 1891 census - before Clare/Clara was born (Living at the same address!):

1891 Cenus, Glamorgan

Ref: RG12/4451 Folio 104 Page 62

Address: 7 Chappel Lee, Llandyfodwg

Robert WILLIAMS, Head, 27, Colliery Engine Driver, b. Glam. Nantymoel
Alice WILLIAMS, Wife, 27, b. ditto ditto
Olive WILLIAMS, Dau, 8, b. ditto ditto
Blodwen WILLIAMS, Dau, 5, b. ditto ditto
W J WILLIAMS, Son, 2, b. ditto ditto
R A WILLIAMS, Dau, 6, , b. ditto ditto

What do you think?

Regards,

Allan

Thanks so much
what a wonder you are.
Looks like the family.
Again, I appreciate your effort
There are several chn missing in this. Aubrey and Olive
but it is possible they were jut not included in the census.
In the wedding cert for Clara it is spelled Clare, but as you said Clara is more commong and there are almost no Clares in the Census.

Alan,
I wanted to thank you for looking up Clare Williams and Thomas Benjamin Jones. They were indeed my family, and I have managed to connect the history. I still cannot find their family after their marriage but possibly there are no records.
Again thanks, you made life so much easier for me.
