I think that you may be getting your Charles and Eliza's mixed up.  :-\

In 1871 Charles the Shoemaker age 48 is with wife Eliza (nee Harbour) and dtrs Elizabeth & Louisa.
Charles the innkeeper is with wife Eliza (nee Mursell) and son Frank

Amelia   Mursell   18   
George   Mursell   14   
Alfred   Mursell   12   
Sophy   Mursell   10   
Frank   Mursell   8   
Louisa   Mursell   5   

Baptisms at Northwood with parents Walter & Amelia
1861 - 31 Mar 1861 - Ellen Sophia
1863 - June 21st - Thomas William.
1865 - 15 Oct  - Beatrice Louisa

Do you think that Frank was registered as Thomas William  :-\

ADDED I have just seen that Thomas is on the 1881 census with Walter & Amelia but no Frank

Yes I suppose that could be it!  :) Although why he would be down as Frank in 1871 doesn't make much sense...  ???
