Confused
« on: Wednesday 22 January 25 15:05 GMT (UK) »
I have a relative, Martha Lister (1810-1880) born and died Huddersfield, married to John Wilkinson (1809-1885) again, born and died Huddersfield and married October 1833 so up to now, pretty straightforward.
Both Ancestry and FindMyPast give Martha's father as a Leonard Wilkinson, no mention of a Lister, and a mother as Elizabeth Tyas or Elizabeth Parker..............I'm stuck!!!!
Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

John Wilkinson of Bradford, Weaver, Bachelor
Martha Lister of Shelf - Spinster
7th October 1833
John & Martha both marked as X

On what documents are her parents names shown?  Is it from somebody else's tree?

Both Ancestry and FindMyPast give Martha's father as a Leonard Wilkinson

Could you please give links to those records.

That's my thought too Rosie, I have a copy of the marriage certificate showing those details but no fathers listed nor a GRO reference.

Registration did not start until mid 1837 so you won't get a GRO ref.  Fathers names did not generally appear on marriage documents until then

Have you traced her on the 1851 - 1871 censuses?  The 1851 has a John & Martha Wilkinson living in Huddersfield but Martha is shown as b Halifax 1807 & John b Lindley

Hints are just that - hints - not facts

Who were their children?
