Good morning folks
Strange morning here, woke up to sun and blue skies,  thought I would walk to the top shops and come back with shopping when my husband comes out of the gym, it poured with rain, change of plan   cancelled shopping,  now the sun is out and beautiful blue sky, do I risk walking to the shops, not sure.

Viktoria,  do hope your plans are going  well for your mobile, don't forget you might need a cover mac if you get caught in the rain, take care when you go out.

Hope everyone is feeling chipper to start the week, also hope the poor souls caught up in the floods are safe ,  seems to be always something going on.

Take care.

LM

Yes, fraid so, just double checked just in case it was my error,  time is flying by or is it my imagination.

Was going to walk to the top shops this morning , was beautiful sunshine but within a short space of time it poured,  went by car  later and we had thunder but was lucky to miss a downpour,  strange weather pattern lately. LM

Yes, time does seem to be passing as quick as ever.  Easter eggs have been in our shops for weeks, such is consumerism that they want to rush us along as usual.
I'm on nightshift tonight, it will be a later start so I've got a bit time to go yet before I head off.
It is a dull, quiet day and so cold.
A few weeks ago I was in a taxi and I was telling the driver that I had seen Killingworth lake three quarters frozen over.  He told me that when he was a lad, he and his friends would go skating on that lake.
I asked if anyone ever went through the ice.
He said "Why aye!" adding " but we were tough in those days, not like the snowflakes that are around today. "
I kept my head down and didn't say anything.  I think I am one of said 'snowflakes' - I certainly wouldn't want to risk going through any ice.

Not long now till VE80 day on 8 May.  Will people be celebrating?  I like the patriotic song 'I Vow To Thee My Country' on this link about the proposed celebrations (haven't heard of this before) and I would like to have a go, nearer the time, at making the WI celebration orange and ginger cake.  Apparently, it is in tribute to the the efforts made by women during the war.

I was only joking, LM.  February does bring a hint of Spring. It's so lovely to seen all the green shoots poking up, full of promise, and our garden is full of primroses - my favourite flower and my favourite colour, too.

We used to live near Killingworth Lake.  It's a lovely spot, but I've never seen it even partly frozen over.

I've personally never seen it frozen over before, until a few weeks ago.  It was as I say, three quarters frozen over and a quarter unfrozen for the swans and ducks.  I'm guessing someone must have broken the ice for the wildlife.
It is possible that the taxi driver was having me on, but he sounded like he wasn't when he was talking of skating there as a boy.

Just to add, I have found this  Facebook link about the recent frozen lake.  But it was more frozen over when I saw it than on the images shown.

Another link (albeit an old one 2022) about the lake freezing over.  Perhaps the taxi driver was being serious.

I have been watching the 80Th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz. It was very moving, the youth of today should be made to listen to the memories of the survivors. Instead of following some of the garbage on Social Media if we are to avoid similar happening again in the future.

May it never happen again, Jebber.  It is heinous that such things took place. :'(
