Closed 1939 Turnbulls at 49 Greenburn Gardens Gateshead
« on: Thursday 30 January 25 10:51 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I just noticed 2 things on the old 1939 record 101/2772E for Richard G Turnbull & his wife
Florence M Turnbull & 4 children Thomas R, Ada, George B & Richard C at 49 Greenburn Gardens, Felling. There is a closed record. I think it is Jane b in 1933. She died almost 25 yrs so why it should be closed I have no idea. Has Greenburn become Greenbourne?
Ada married & became  Ada Jackson but I'm not sure what 27 7 48 or 49 is & FFN on her line is
Thanks
Bill B

I presume you have looked at the Register on Ancestry.

Ada is there and open on Findmypast. Her married name Jackson has been noted and that is what the letters and number refer to.

Findmypast regularly update the Register in their site. Ancestry less frequently.

There is a closed record. I think it is Jane b in 1933. She died almost 25 yrs so why it should be closed I have no idea.

Firstly she was born less than 100 years ago so would normally be redacted because of that.  If a person died while the register was still being used by the NHS it would be noted in the far right column that we are not allowed to see because it has references to medical records and therefore opened.  As she died after that date, there are a few ways the record would be opened - by application by someone who supplies a death certificate as proof and secondly by Findmypast themselves who do crosschecking with more recent death records.  Her name and date of birth would have to be an exact match between the death record and the Register for them to open it.

I would imagine that most redacted people would reach the 100 year mark before FindMyPast had the time and resources to check if they were deceased.
