Will of Last Dring, Woodton, 1827
« on: Sunday 09 February 25 10:39 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I am trying to track down the will of the above Last Dring. I have found him in an index transcription, but can’t find him on FamilySearch, where most of the Norfolk wills seem to be.

Any pointers much appreciated.

Rosie,

Hi, thanks very much, yes that was the index I found him on, will it be online somewhere ? Or do I still have to visit the record office?

I was going to suggest that maybe Norfolk offered a copying service but £20 is more than I would pay for one copy.   TNA only seem to mention him relating to insurance.  I am trying to find Norfolk wills on FS.  :-\

If only they hadn't taken down Norfolk Sources a few years ago

We can't view the Archdeaconry of Norfolk wills at home on FS, so Norfolk Sources did at least give us those from 1800-57.

Ah, so a visit is required, Norwich available but not Norfolk.

Thanks very much.

There are two Last Dring burials in Woodton in 1826.
And two wills, it seems that one was proved in 1826, and one in 1827.

Death duty indexes have Jonon. (I think) Jonathan? Farrow of Mundham as an executor for the 1826 probate.
Wm Dring of Woodton is an executor of the will proved in 1827.

Hi, yes,  they are a frustrating family, I think Last Dring the son died the year before Last Dring the Father, I was hoping the Will might sort things out a bit. There are a cluster of Dring families which I cannot yet join up.
Thanks I had not seen that Wm. Dring was an executor, I don’t currently have him in my maze of Drings.

There are death notices in the Norfolk papers for Last Dring junior of Woodton in July 1826.
Buried 20 July 1826 at Woodton. Age 37
https://www.freereg.org.uk/search_records/5818adefe93790ec757ec7f7

Last Dring (senior) of Woodton died around about 1st August 1826.
Buried 7 August 1826 at Woodton. Age 76
https://www.freereg.org.uk/search_records/5818adefe93790ec757ec7fb

Again from the newspapers, executors for Last Dring the younger were Wm Dring of Woodton and John Wormoll of Topcroft.
