« on: Tuesday 11 February 25 22:46 GMT (UK) »
I'm wondering what work my grandmother did for the war.  she qualified as a pharmacist and ran a chemist  shop since 1930s in Birmingham centre.  unfortunately she died just before my birth only age mid fifties . does anyone know a way to find what she did in the war? could she have been called to help on an allies project? her name was s Ethel Mary Knowles but in 1938 she married becoming Mrs Hallewell.  thankyou.

A Pharmacist was one of the jobs listed as a reserved occupation during WWII, which meant it was a job considered important enough to exempt a person from military service.
There is always the possibility she served as an ARP Warden or in a similar voluntary role, which could be performed outside her working hours.

Is she born 1911 and on the 1939 register at 19 Hillary Grove, Birmingham? Her occupation is "shop assistant"

hi. I'm really embarrassed and self critical that I am not communicating with you and everyone replying. I'm very happy and grateful for your generous work to assist me.  I think I would have managed to stay organised until covid time when at last I was not being coerced.  however then my social housing heating broke down and frim 2020 I've been living without heat but received demands to pay for it still and now they apply to courts for repossession of my home. its a one bed rental. court  date is early May. desperately hope will be sorted with fairness, so my health can  be less stressed and I find what's needed to focus on my family's need for answers.
Thank you   I'm struggling to use Internet and rootschat.com because my phone screens too small.
if you can help and translate blanche death certificate I'd be grateful.
The only certificate I have is Reginald birth and one mayb blanche I ordered online but don't know how to see it anymore.  think is limit on time yiu can view it after paying but could call registery office England?
