Hi,
Hoping someone/somebodies can help shine some light on the following....
The easy bit
Samuel BOU(T)CHER Callear
Birth recorded Q2-1855 in Wolverhampton, Staffs
GRO shows mother's maiden name as JACKSON
Mary Jackson married Levi Callear in 1844 in Wolverhampton
Samuel B Callear marries in 1881 and his father is shown as Levi Callear
1861 Census
Samuel BOU(T)CHER Callear is not living with his parents; instead he is living with David & Emma BOUTCHER.

I have previously viewed this on FindMyPast but annoyingly didn't take a copy as I did not think it was relevant at the time. I did however make a note that says "adopted son". Tonight, I have seen the same record transcribed on FamilySearch.org and it states "grandson"
Q1. In the 1861 census, is Samuel shown as an "adopted son" or "grandson"?
Note: He seems to use the Boutcher surname in the 1871 and 1881 census records but has reverted to CALLEAR by the 1891 census.
------------
The use of Bou(t)cher in Samuel's name led me to initially think this must be his mother's maiden name but records suggest it is JACKSON.
Q2. Can anyone find a marriage between a Mary Boutcher and a (Mr) JACKSON = maybe she married before?
------------
Q3. Why is he not living with his parents?
Levi and Mary are living together in the 1851 census

There is a death of a Mary Callear recorded in Q2-1855 in Wolverhampton = did she die during child birth? Note: 1855 census shows age as "35".
He is shown as a grocer.
It seems Levi remarried in 1856 (to a Emma Langley - born Adams). She has died and he remarried by the 1861 Census in which he is shown as a "Grocer and Weslyan Local Preacher"
