George Douglas on the 1851 Scotland Census also appears in 1861/1871/1881 as Crawford.
Not sure if I saw 1891 but George and Sophia (Crawford) were both Douglas in 1901. (Salt Greens Road)  Very strange.

There should be a newspaper report for George Douglas - 

27th January 1905

Drowned fell from middle pier at the cut beside swing bridge Eyemouth harbour 

Maybe find my past might have that report.

Good find.  Would you be able to find anything on John Matthew Crawford Snr born 1811 married Sophia about 1838 (from memory) disappears just before the 1851 census. Occupation coastguard. ?
