Is there any Davies here who trace their Paternal Ancestry to the St. Martin's, Chirk, Ruabon, Wrexham, Llangollen, and Mold area?
I am interested in finding some individuals to do some genetic genealogy with based on the paternal Y-Chromosome.
I have hit a brick wall with my 5th great-grandfather, Robert Davies (born c. 1770)
If you have done Ancestry DNA and you upload it to FamilyTreeDNA, it can give you a high level Y Grouping.
Over 90% of Welsh males belong to R-M269, with less than 3-8% belonging to I1...
And lucky me! My paternal line belongs to this very small subset, which I am hoping to use to my advantage.
I am willing to organise a few basic Y-37 tests for some Davies male whose Paternal Ancestors come from this area. If we closely match, I'll get a detailed test done.
Will share all results and research with any distant cousins I find. My hope is to find a Y-Chromsome match that will expand the tree beyond my 5th great-grandparents.
So, if anyone comes these families, and has access to a male relative - let's work together and see if we can get some definitive answers about a very common surname.
