1681 French Marriage
« on: Sunday 16 March 25 21:29 GMT (UK) »
Help with this please!
It's from the Montreuil sur Mer register for Notre Dame.

I can see the first line says
'The 7th day of January 1681 after the proclamation of Banns and other solemnisations
Louis Mustelle of the............. took to wife
Jeanne Allain.......'
but that's about it, apart from the names of several people.

Any help gratefully received. Thank you.

Goldie, I felt your pain trying to make the best out of this masterpiece of calligraphy. What a frustrating time I spent comparing this entry with other entries in order to make most of it. I'm stil clueless about several words.

Thanks very much Zefiro.
Much more than I got!

Do you think the first word on the 5th line could be 'Cure' (sorry, haven't got an e acute key on this keyboard, and my short cut key doesn't work on these posts).

Also I think it might be Jacques Carpentier - he has a nice signature as one of the witnesses.

Unfortunately no other information about Louis Mustelle, who is the person I'm really interested in.
Most of the witnesses seem to be on the bride's side.

I agree with Zephiro , it's really hard to dicepher .

...Alexandre Sichoux ...du consentement de Messire ... curez de ladite paroisse
It is "Curez" ( meaning curé )...Charles Allain frair (meaning frère) de ladite épouse.

Instead of "presbytre" I think it could  be procédant ( du consentement de Mr Jornin) .

Many thanks for all your input joger.

The trees on geneanet were interesting.
The mother of Charles and Jeanne Allain seemingly yet another Marie Duvivier!
There must be a connection to my Duvivier family in Montreuil sur Mer, but I've yet to work it out.
(Louis Mustelle's sister Marie married a Francois Duvivier.............)
