Help with a French / Alsacien birth date please
« on: Friday 11 April 25 07:55 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help with the birth date of George Hoff in Thal-Marmoutier please?
I can find it in the 10 year index but can't read the month.
A link to the original index page is here:

Here's a link to the Acte de naissance but the language looks more German / Alsacien to me.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you for that, you're right. Having looked again, I can see that George Hoff is actually on the next page.
But I'm still struggling with the date. Can you help with that?

Thank you. That makes a lot of sense. There is a marginal note in the acte de naissance "20.5.99" which is pretty close.
I appreciate the offer to translate but it's a rather distant relative of someone I'm helping out, so no need, thanks.
I would be curious as to whether it's German or Alsacien though.

It's German. In this 'acte' the day of birth is 1 prairial an VII, so 20th May 1799.

Thank you for clearing up which language it is, and for the date.
