Did it perhaps say High Commissioner (High Commr) , rather than High Corner?

When I transcribed the details into my note book I wrote "High Corner (?)" to indicate I wasn't sure of the name. Sadly, when keying post, omitted question mark - must try harder.

Link to probable death Sophia - I had checked NZ BDMs and found 1922 marriage and 1964 death that "fitted".

Thank you all so much for all this information, yes she did marry John Wallace and had a family in NZ.
A lot of the trees on ancestry have Sophia born in NZ not many have Scotland
I was trying to find her parents and information about her Scottish family.

Marriage certificate will confirm her parents and place of birth NZ certs have both parents named.
Buy the Print out, cheaper and has more info.
Birth cert of children should also confirm place of birth

A lot of the trees on ancestry have Sophia born in NZ not many have Scotland

Never trust online trees, especially on Ancestry, MyHeritage and other commercial web sites.

It only takes one sloppy researcher to make a wrong assumption, and before you know it the resulting error has been copied dozens of times by other lazy people who don't bother to check original records, so you get dozens of trees all saying the same, and "there are so many trees sayiing such-and-such they must be right".
