Welcome to Rootschat blairigmartin

When deciphering writing, the way the scribe forms their letters gives clues to what those letters are.
It would be more hepful to post a slightly larger clip, so that we can see more of the letters for comparison (you are allowed to do this if you're worried about copyright).
For example, the second letter may not be a 'u'. There is no final downward stroke before the 'm', to make it into one.
It is more likely to be an 'i' - there is a 'dot' above it which may or may not be related to the letter.
If there are other examples of an 'i' and a 'u', that would help determine what that letter is.
Can you also please tell us where Lindridge is?
As this is posted on the handwriting deciphering board, there is no county mentioned.
We need to be sure we're in the correct area of, I presume, England.
If you give your ancestors name, this may also be another avenue which could be explored to find the missing place name.
It's always good to give as much detail as you can when asking for help.
