What happened to William and James MANCEY
« on: Thursday 01 May 25 14:14 BST (UK) »
I am trying to track down the final resting places of two brothers, the sons of John and Sarah MANCEY.

William was baptised 0n 12 Dec 1802 at St Mary in Old Basing. He appears never to have married. I have a death certificate for him which contains no useful information other than he died on 05 Dec 1865 at Tottendown, Basingstoke. I cannot find a burial for him either in Basingstoke or back in Old Basin.

James was baptised on 04 May 1814 at St Mary in Old Basing. I can find no further records for him. I assume he died young, but cannot find an appropriate burial.

As always any help greatly appreciated.

Where have you checked for burials?  Local church to Old Basing any good  :-\

I take it he isn't the William Muncy Born 1804 Old Basing married to Sarah on the 1861 census

Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Or this one in 1851 born 1802 Basing married to Arabella - transcribed as Maney but could easily be Mancy

His baptism transcription is down as Mansey so plenty of alternative spellings unfortunately

Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Possible marriage of William MANCY (widower) to Sarah Brown (widow) 13th Sept 1859. Father recorded as John Mancy-occ-labourer. Her father Henry Palmer?

Sarah appears as a widow in 1871 census..
