Hi,

I am currently looking for help in finding the father of Augustine Victorine Couppey. She was born around the 1870s, I believe in France and married Mathurin Marie Guegan. They lived in the Channel Islands and had multiple children. Her mother was Clementine Couppey. I wonder if her middle name Victorine has anything to do with her father? He was not listed on any documents I have seen so far. I think they were married in or around te 1890s.

The 1911 census gives Augustine's birth place as Paris, abt 1872.

When she married - what information is on the marriage record?
If she was illegitimate she may not have known her father.

(Sorry, but my French is not good enough to help with an accurate translation - except that I see the mother Clementine was 24 and a seamstress.)

Have you got this?
From the Paris Archives.
(On MyHeritage)

My French is not good enough to translate some bits of it - you could post it on the Europe board here on Rootschat where no doubt somebody will be able to.

There seems to be a Marie Clementine Augustine Couppey as the mother of Augustine Victorine, and a Clementine Couppey - are they the same person?
As I say, my French is not good enough to make out some of it.
I suspect all the people named near the end are witnesses to this document.

From this and all the familytrees on familysearch and MyHeritage, it does look as though she was an illegitimate daughter of Clementine, so there may not be any records with his name on.
Unless there was some system in France at that time for 'child support'.

Added:
I see you managed to find the original Neale while I was finding this.
Worth having both documents though - you never know what clues might be there.

You're right Neale.
Pretty much a waste of our time today, as the poster has already been told there is no way to find out who the father of the child was.
I wish people would give what information has already been found when they ask for our help - especially when they had already had help from this site recently.
