Hi Diane

Have checked the 1851 census and there is no Henry Morcombe, and not knowing the first name of S Morcombe it would only be speculation.Sorry couldn't be of more help.

Hi Diane,

It might help to have more informaton from other censuses.  I think this is your Henry Morcombe in 1871:

Royal Oak, Newnham Street, Newnham, Kent
William Henry Morcombe 41 Mar, born Devonport, Devon, Boarder, Plasterer

Also with him is:
Thomas Morcombe 30 Mar, born Penzance, Cornwall, Boarder, Plasterer
RG10/980 Folio 45 Page 8

In 1851 there is this possibility...

16 Chapel Street, Dawlish Newton Abbot, Devon
William  MARTIN  Head 67  Labourer Dawlish, Devon
Elizth.  MARTIN  Wife  67  Dawlish, Devon
William  MORCOMBE  Vist  M  21  Plasterer  Plymouth, Devon
John  SAUNDERS  Vist  U  18  Labourer  Totnes, Devon
John  TUCKER  Vist  M  35  Plasterer  Totnes, Devon

HO/107/1870  Folio  52  Page  13

I'll have another look for the rest of his family in other censuses.

Debbie
