Hi,
I'm hoping someone may recognise my Hog(g) connection from Fetteresso and be able to remove a few bricks from my wall.
1. James Hogg was born Abt. 1810 in Kincardineshire, Scotland, and died Bet. 1841 - 1851. He married Ann ?. She was born Abt. 1817 in Gateshead, Durham, Northumberland, England, and died Aft. 1871.
More About James Hogg:
Occupation: 1841, Draper
Residence: 1841, Market Square, Fetteresso, Stonehaven, Kincardineshire, Scotland
More About Ann ?:
Occupation 1: 1851, Teacher
Occupation 2: 1861, Provision Dealer
Residence 1: 1851, Ellison Sq, St. Mary's, Gateshead, Durham, Northumberland, England
Residence 2: 1861, Shop, High St, Gateshead, Durham, Tyne & Wear, England
More About James Hogg and Ann ?:
Ann is recorded as a "widow" on the census of 1851
Children of James Hogg and Ann ? are:
2 i. John Hogg, born Abt. 1836 in Kincardine, Scotland.
+ 3 ii. David Morris Hogg, born Abt. 1840 in Kincardine, Scotland; died Bet. Jul - Sep 1909 in Durham, Northumberland, England.
Generation No. 2
3. David Morris Hogg (James1) was born Abt. 1840 in Kincardineshire, Scotland, and died Bet. Jul - Sep 1909 in Durham, Northumberland, England. He married Mary Margreat Duff 03 Mar 1861 in Gateshead, Durham, Tyne & Wear, England, daughter of William Duff and Mary ?. She was born Abt. 1840 in Scotland, and died Aft. 1901 in Durham, Northumberland, England.
1841 Census
HOGG James M 30 Draper Kincardineshire
HOGG Ann F 20 England
HOGG John M 4 Kincardineshire
HOGG David M 4m Kincardineshire
ANDERSON Margaret F 15 Female Servant Kincardineshire
I can't find a birth in Scotland or England for John or David nor a marriage for James & Ann and as David was married in England his mother's name is not on his marriage certificate.
I'm wondering if Margaret Anderson was a relative which may throw some light on things as the 1841 never gave relationships.
John does not appear in any other census therefore possibly died prior to 1851 as did his father but I don't have the death certificates yet and think they both died in Gateshead and it's possible they died together or maybe just a coincidence but I'm not discounting that they may have died in Scotland.
I'm hoping that the baptisms for John & David were just missed when the transcriptions were done and that someone can find them in the church please - scraping the barrel now

Regards,
Annie.
