1900 census Kansas Recheck
« on: Friday 23 September 05 17:49 BST (UK) »
Hi

Please could you check for me ,

Salina Ward 4, Saline. Kansas

George Moran aged 70 born England
Maria wife aged 62 born Ohio

I have Maria as having 0 children and her father was born Maryland. Is this correct

As on the 1910 Census in Kansas
Maria was a widow mother of 1 child. none living.
If you could check the details if her father is still listed as born in Maryland I would be so grateful

Thanking you for your help

Marj,  I double checked the 1900 census and it lists Maria with no children/none living, and parents born in Maryland (father), and England (mother).  Did you check the 1880 census that is online through <familysearch.org>?---Genealiza

Hi Genealiza

Thank you for checking the 1900 census for me, I have checked the 1880 census no children with them, and on the 1870 census this is where I found that Maria and George had a son Charles aged 13, so he may have died 1870-1880.
on the 1900 census it gave Maria as no children on the 1910 census it gave her a widow, mother of 1 child, none living.
so hence my request for the recheck.

Maria died in 1932 I will request for a look up for 1920 & 1930
and see what they come up with.

Thank you again for your help, very much appreciated

Marj,  Here are the 1920 and 1930 census' for Maria Moran.  They don't appear to give anymore information, other than the fact that she lived a very long life.  What information are you looking for her?  I have access to some Ohio records and might be able to look them over.--Genealiza

Hi Genealiza,

Great, thanks for the info on Maria. Eng, Eng, on the census I presume it's where her father and mother was born. It also look as if Maria was a widow when she married George in 1863, the son Charles may  have been born out of wedlock his birth year according to the 1870 census was1857 and Maria was born 1837 married at 22 according to the 1930 census making her first marriage in 1859.
The plot thickens.

Thank you for your offer to check some Ohio Records
Can you find for me the details of the marriage on George & Maria they were married 1st June 1863 Newark Licking Ohio,
I am particular interested in George's fathers name, which would confirm my connection to George, and if George & Maria were Widows at the time of their marriage, that would also solve Charles B Moran, or maybe George adopted him ?

Many thanks again, I do appreciate all your help you have given me.
