It seems that most of my ancestry that i have information on surrounds the Brighton area. Looking for any information on relatives of the following;
Hephzibah Godley born around 1835 not sure if this is the correct first name but is certainly the translation on the 1901 census.
She was the mother of William James Godley Circ 1861 and Albert E Godley Circ.1873 in 1901 they were registered as living at Richmond Street Brighton.
William married Mary A or E??  and had 3 sons;
William J Godley 1883 approx
Cecil A Godley 1885 "
Percy Victor Godley 1891 who went on to marry Minnie Jupp in 1918 who was also from the Brighton area.

Hepzibah Godley was born in Chailey in Sussex in 1831 to John Hunt and Sophia Bates. She married James Godley in 1859 and died in 1906 at 40 Tichbourne St, Brighton. Her death was sudden and there was a coroners inquest which found that she died of natural causes.
The house at Richmond St was a pub called the Telegraph Inn. A lot of the Godley family ran pubs all around Sussex.
Percy V Godley was my grandfather. He married Minnie whilst on leave from Germany where he served in the Royal Field Artillery. His brother Cecil who was in a Surrey regiment was killed in France and is remembered on the war memorial at Chichester.
I've managed to trace this Godley line back as far as the early 1700's and they appear to originate from the Pyecombe area north of Brighton. They don't move about much never straying outside of Sussex and always seem to marry partners from a similar area roughly on the East/West Sussex border.
