1851 Census, Shepherd, Ebbesborne Wake
« on: Saturday 14 August 04 09:25 BST (UK) »
Would appreciate a look up for Elias Shepherd born circa 1801 at Ebbesborne Wake.

Elias is my 2nd great grandfather and he is just a name on a marriage certificate.

I am hoping he was still around in 1851.

Thanks
Aaron

Hello Aaron,
I have just scanned through the Wiltshire 1851 census and the only Shepperd's born in Ebbesbourne Wake are the Mary & Martha who I have already given you details of. There is also a Charlotte Shepherd b. Ebbesbourne age 61 but she is married to an Edward Shepherd of Compton so I don't think these are your Shepherds.  Elias Shepherd is not listed. If it is any help to your research Ebbesbourne registers in Heytesbury which is a sub district of Warminster in Wiltshire.

Hi

Just noticed this really old post and wondered whether you still needed help with Elias? I could try having a bit of a look in 1841 if you wanted......

Angela
Any census information included in this post is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk
Especially looking for - Sealey, Rogers, Cannings, Box, Sheppard in Wiltshire; Virgin, Slade, Abbott, Saint, Harper, Silverthorn in Somerset; and Virgin, Tarr, Beer in Devon

And most especially the origins of William Cannings,  a Baptist, born abt 1791 in Broughton Gifford, Wiltshire

Hi Angela,;D

thank you so much for thinking of me. I did find out all about Elias. He died before the 1851 census. I actually bought the 1841 for EW as the Shepherds were a complete mystery to me.

I really appreciate your interest.

Regards
Darcy ;)
