Kreglin & Orr in Greenock.
« on: Saturday 14 August 04 17:07 BST (UK) »
Hi
Ernest Charles Christopher Kreglin(ger) & his wife Clara Mary Hawkes moved from London to Greenock after 1914, with their children. It seems he had his mother & sister with him, as I have found the deaths of both in Greenock. Elise Kreglinger his sister in 1924, Katharina Kreglinger his mother in 1935.
I have been unable, so far to find marriages of the sons Ernest Gordon Kreglin & Herbert Charles Kreglin in either London or Scotland.

The daughter Olive Tina Rubin Kreglin born Woolwich 1908 married Donald Orr in Glasgow in 1928. Olive Tina Rubin's address was 1 Newark Terrace Lyle Road Greenock, Donald's looks like 25 Royal Street Greenock.

Clara Mary's death was registered in the Hilhead District of Glasgow in 1943 her address was given as 1 Newark Terrace Greenock.

Ernest Charles Christopher's death was registered in Greenock in 1953, his address was given as 28 Lyle Road Greenock. Informant was his son Ernest G Kreglin, address 28 Lyle Road Greenock.

I'm looking for info on all of these people & their descendants,  Clara Mary Hawkes was my gt gt Aunt.

Hi my wife who is from Greenock has a similar story to yours her Gt grandparents moved to Greenock from whitechapel 1880' and we found there grave by ringing the Greenock cemetery the man she spoke to was very helpful and my wife has now had the grave (lair in Scotland) transfered into her ownership for about £12 so if you know the date  your ancestors died they will tell you where to find the lair I am going to Greenock on the 28th oct to take a photo of the grave  so if you find any info about your relatives I would be happy to take a pic of your lair and email it to you if you like i don't have the tel number handy but if you google  Greenock councils website you should find it  good luck with your search

Thanks Avro & to your wife, ;D
I'll give it a go see what I can find out.

Orr seems to be a fairly common name in Scotland, from the number of them listed on GenesReunited.  I contacted everyone that had Orr's in Greenock, but, as usual, most of them didn't even bother to reply. Kreglin or  Kreglin(ger) are very unusual in the uk, hopefully anyone related will know that name after all it's not that far back in time.

 ;D ;DSUCCESS ;D ;D

Thanks to all who have tried to help in my search for descendants of Ernest Charles Christopher Kreglin & Clara Mary Hawkes.

I was contacted by their gt grandson a couple of days ago, seems they put Kreglin in google & came up with my posts. (everywhere)

To anybody searching for a lost link in their family, I suggest you leave posts as many places as you can.

Cheers
Chris

Hi there.

Olive Kreglin(ger)and Donald Orr were my great grandparents on my farthers side. They had a daughter caled Clara who married George Adam Lyons. They had two sons, (*) and (*) (my dad). (*) has three sons ((*)) with his wife (*)

I have managed to track back the Kreglinger (Germany Black foreset area) and Hawks (Essex Braintree area) family trees to the early 1800s and 1700s on ansestry.com. let me know if you would be interested ^_^
