Liverpool Conservative and Unionist Women's Franchise Assoc.
« on: Monday 10 October 05 13:18 BST (UK) »
In Feb 1912 Eleanor R.Rathbone and Evelyn Deakin sent a letter to the Times Newspaper on the "State of Conservative Opinion" regarding Woman Suffrage.
Evelyn Deakin was Hon.Secretary of the Liverpool Branch of the Conservative and Unionist Women's Franchise Association.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to help me discover more about Evelyn?
It is possible she may be connected to my Deakin research - I have an Evelyn Deakin b.1880 who would most likely have been in the area at the time, and the daughter of a prominent business man - John Buckley Deakin, Salt Proprietor. I'd love to find out more information on the association and ultimately discover if my Evelyn was one of the suffragette's.

regards,
odessa.

I don't know if you are still looking for anything about Evelyn Deacon but you will find her mentioned in Crawford: The Women's Suffrage Movement in Britain and Ireland: a regional survey, published by Routledge (now available in paperback)
