1841 Epping lookup request
« on: Wednesday 12 October 05 15:40 BST (UK) »
Hi, this is a cry for help!

If anyone is looking in 1841 Epping, I would be hugely grateful if they could keep an eye out for a Henry Gregory, probably aged around late 20s-early 30s.

He was buried in Epping in 1846.  He might be mine, but if not I would love to rule him out, as I am stuck! :'(

The only Henery living in Essex is at Leytonstone (according to my source of info).........I also had a look for Harry's (another name for Henry) to no avail.

1841..........HO107/323/17
LOWER LEYTON, LEYTONSTONE, ESSEX
WILLIAM GREGORY  30  AG LAB   Y
MARY             "         25                N
HENERY         "          2                 Y
-------------------

TWO HOUSEHOLDS IN EPPING.............

1841..........HO107/341/2
HIGH STREET, EPPING
JAMES GREGORY  60  MS   Y
SARAH       "         56          Y
JOHN         "         25          Y
CARROLINE "        17         Y
GEORGE     "         15         Y
MITILDA     "          2           Y
--------------------
1841............HO107/341/2
EPPING PLACE, EPPING
JAMES GREGORY  60  MS   Y
---------------------
and that is all the Gregory's in EPPING.............their are however 154 Gregory's and variants in Essex in 1841............most of which live in the west side of Essex ......... places such as Wanstead, Chigwell, Barking, Woodford, West Ham, Walthamstow, Chingford etc etc
all of these are neighbours of Epping.................

Bryant,
Thank you for all the information.

It all gives me something more to go on in tracing the movements of "my" elusive Henry.  It looks as if this particular Henry must have gone to Epping later than 1841, unfortunately.  I'll keep looking!

Many thanks again for your help and time.
