joseph rhodes born about 1814 sheffield joseph was a farmer
wife hannah  born 1810 eckington
son john born about 1837 sheffield
hannah born 1839
joseph born 1841,

The Rhodes family in this area were quite big farmers, there were several of them with large farms up until recently, one of them whacked me with a stick for playing in his corn when I was about 14 :'( they did come from Sheffield before that.

The bruise has gone now, you just took your punishment in those days, but we were still on speaking terms 30yrs later so no harm done, this farm was on White Lane, Gleadless, on the road to Eckington and there were a couple of other Rhodes farms further along that road, I believe they also had some interests in small Coal mines locally. this would be in the 1950s
