I have George Wootton's marriage to Mary Ann Hull at St Paul's Bedford on 7/10/1865

Can SKS look for the Hull family prior to 1871?

The closest I can find to Mary Hull (Wootton) is

which might be a complete red herring!

On the IGI there's a marriage between Josiah Hull and Mary Whittington in Marston on 10 Oct 1833, who had children matching some of those in 1861, baptised in the Bedford Methodist Circuit.

I'll wade through the 1851 Census for Bedford to see if I can find them there!.

I was reasonably confident about the marriage (otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it!) but I am totally gobsmacked about the birthplace of Northampton. I had Josiah earmarked for the christening on 14 Jan 1811 at Wootton. The age of 39 that you've found fits perfectly, coupled with Mary Ann also being born at Wootton, which is only a couple of miles across the fields to Marston.

Perhaps he was born in Northampton but christened in Wootton?

I'll see if I can find them in 1841 (now that I know they weren't in either Bedford or Luton which I try to avoid to like the plague!)

Looks like the 1851 ref. must be a mistake, I've checked the1851 image again, but it looks as if Beds is most likely favourite. (taking your IGI ref into account)
