« on: Tuesday 24 August 04 13:59 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am trying to find out about Harriett Foster (abt 1852 Ore Sussex) married James Wenham (abt 1851 Hastings Sussex) father Richard Wenham.
They married on 29th ?? 1872 in Ore sussex. I have the marriage cert. and was hoping to find out the name of Harrietts father but it is not recorded, just a blank space. I have also searched birth records and can not find a Harriett Foster born in Ore but the census records her birth place as Ore.
I seem to have come to a complete stop and as I'm new to all this I would very much appreciate any help or advice you may be able to give.
Their children were:-
James Wenham abt 1879
William T Wenham abt 1881
Walter wenham abt1884
Reginald Wenham abt 1887 (my GG Grandfather) m Ethel Sarah Franks
Edith Wenahm abt 1889
Charles Wenham abt 1892
Ethel Wenham abt 1895
all born in Ore Sussex.
Any info at all would be wonderful
Many thanks
fozzie

Hi again

There are over 100 people with the surname Foster in the Ore area of Hastings on the 1851 census - obviously there is no Harriett if she was not born until 1852ish - but there is a 2 year old Harriett if we find that her true age is not being reported properly on the later census.

If you can identify her mother or any of her siblings, then we may be able to locate her for you

Hi
You had the marriage date down as 29 ?? 1872. It was in fact 29 Dec 1872 according to Ore Parish register. Sorry don't have any information re. Harriet's parents. There was however a marriage between a Cornelius Foster and Sarah Catt in Ore 5 April 1849 - may not be relevant at all, but may be worth looking at.

Hi there

There is a Cornelius Foster (born Catsfield) in Ore in 1851, but he is aged 59 living at Ore Place Lodge with his wife Ann aged 63 from Hawkhurst

There are 6 Sarah Fosters listed, but non married to a Cornelius
