Has anyone got acess to old Bedfordshire newspapers from around 1900 to 1920.I am trying to find out about the death of my G Grandmother Sarah Denton who was run over and killed by a coach and horses driven by her husband Hugh Denton,it is rumored that  alcohol was involved. I would be very grateful if anyone can help.          Regards      Bethan

I cannot help with the Bedfordshire Inquest / Obituary look up however here are a few links which may help you

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/BDF/#Newspapers

For the years you mention here are where they are possibly archived & in brackets the press named:

Northampton Public Library 1908-1911

(County Press for Northamptonshire, bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Huntingdonshire 1908-1911)

Webpage: http://www.library.northamptonshire.gov.uk/www-bin/www_dev32?www_welcome.tgml

Bedford Record Office 1902-1905, 1907-1908

(Bedford and Bedfordshire Mercury 1837-1912)

Webpage: http://www.beds.co.uk/town/record.htm

I hope this helps you in your search :-\

I've sent a private message to you saying I am happy to look it up for you.  I live in Bedfordshire so can go to the local libraries if you wish.  You might also try looking at the Bedfordshire Libraries website on http://www.bedfordshire.gov.uk/ It has an online section which you can join whether you live in Beds or not.   I found the online version of the Times invaluable to my family research.

I noticed there is an index of the newspapers on the site telling you where historical Bedfordshire papers are held.

Best Wishes

Jenny

New URL for the libraries, old one now ammended, access libraries from main menu
I am interested in Angliss and variants anywhere but particularly Coventry and the rest of  Warwickshire.   Also interested in Cramp and Burnett (Warwickshire) and Hayward (Lower Slaughter, Gloucestershire)

Dear Jenny I would be very grateful if you could look it up for me ,I know that this incident made the newspapers as my mother can remember a newspaper clipping about it, the problem is she cannot recall the date, also her uncle Rowland Denton was allegedly injured in the same incident and was confined to a wheelchair for the remainder of his life.If you incur any costs in this search let me know and I will repay you .     Thanks a lot for your interest.                 Bethan :) ;) 8) ;D
