Shropshire / Am i barking up wrong tree for John Humphries dad and siblings?
« on: Thursday 30 July 20 13:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi, So John Humphries i have been born Illegitimate to Margaret Humphreys. 15th July 1780 at St chads, Shrewsbury Shropshire, according to England Select births it says to William Roberts and Marg.

now i find a marriage for William and Mary Humphreys on 11 Oct 1794 pallots marriage but it says William a Widow, and MARY Humphries? at Almondy.

also looking at Marriages for William Roberts, i have come across these

Owen Roberts child to William and Margaret Roberts
Ann Roberts child to William and Margaret Roberts
Ann Roberts child to Willism and Margaret Roberts ( another one)
Mary Robert child to William and Margaret Roberts
Edward Roberts child to William and Margaret Roberts

could those be John Siblings?

then i find marriage William Roberts to Mary Haddocks 30/4/1793 in Almondy could this be the his first marriage, and then the transcript should be Margaret in 1794 not Mary?

Then i find Select burials in 1820 William Roberts in Almondy

thankyou Weenie

Shropshire / Ann Barker or Ann Bennet ?? help needed please
« on: Monday 27 July 20 20:07 BST (UK)  »
hi im trying to find the Ann married to John Humphries b 15th July 1780 Madeley, Shropshire, his wife Ann could be Ann Barker marriage 21 Oct 1822 , there children i have are Emma , Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Edmund, Sarah  and Thomas. the reason i feel its Ann Barker and not Bennett is because ,there 3rd daughter Mary Ann, her son, John Humphries (grandson to John and Ann) has a lodger living with him in 1881 census a Thomas Barker aged 22 could this possibly be a relative of Ann Barker?.
other people have however Ann Bennett on there trees

i have Ann as b1795 d 1863 John as date of death as 9th July 1838
John was illigitimate, there daughter Mary Ann had her son  John Illigitimate too, it tends to be a trend on this branches
any help greatly appriciated

Yorkshire (West Riding) / William Woods parents marriage would you say is correct?
« on: Tuesday 18 February 20 18:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, Sorry me again, going back to William Wood, im now wondering if i have the correct parents/parents marriage for him?
Rebecca, b1765 Yorkshire as of 1841 census, she is with son William at the Talbot inn Bradford, then dies 1843 leaving the Inn to son William.
ive traced the Talbot inn in newspapers, and see that John Wood was owner between 1786 and 1791 due to newspaper articles, John also had the Kings Arms.
John dies in 1815,
i found a marriage of John Wood to Rebecca Oxley at Leeds Parish Church 3 April 1788, both say of this parish ? John a Waiter.

now 2 newspapers have her announcements saying in 1813 she has been Innkeeper for up than 26 years, takign it to 1786/7 taking over the Talbot , then the one passing it to son William saying for more than 50 years taking it 1793 of first in Talbot Inn.

there children are as follows,
Mary b 1789 Bradford dad victueller
William b1790 Bradford dad victueller  (he married Leeds Parish Church - but lived in Leeds and Bradford- his kids were at Wortley Leeds)
Charles b1792 Bradford dad ??
Thomas b 1795 Bradford john & Rebecca Victueller (died 1814 notice in paper 3rd son of John Wood Talbot Inn)
Rebecca  Bpt 5th March 1797 Bradford John & Rebecca Wood Innkeepers
James b5 oct 1797 bapt April 1798 Bradford John Innkeeper
Robert bapt dec 1798 Bradford John Innkeeper
Nicholas Bapt Jan 1798 on select, dies feb 1799
Ann Wood b1803 aprox no bapt found possible 1805 but says John Woolstapler? , - have some papers/ notes info etc. at my mums re her husband Thomas Hammond Bartholomew to do with Aire and Calder to go with our Darling (Mariners )and Ford (Earthenware )ancestors again with Aire and Calder plus death in paper states husband of Thomas and Daughter of Rebecca Wood Talbot Inn
Hannah bapt 1806 Bradford, John innkeeper

would you say Rebecca is Oxley and the Leeds marriage is correct?

many thanks

Yorkshire (West Riding) / where are William Woods 2 wives!
« on: Saturday 25 January 20 23:16 GMT (UK)  »
hi, i was wondering if anyone could help me try locate 2 wives please?

William Wood b Sept 1790 Bradford, to John Wood and Rebecca Oxley, they ran the Talbot inn Kirkgate.

William first wife was Jane Sandford b1st April 1781 Rothwell, they married Leeds parish church 1810, i seem to loose her after her childrens births which are 1815, 1816, 1818 all born Wortley , Leeds
William appears on the 1841 census with his mum at the Talbot Inn, Kirkgate in 1842 there daughter marries in Calverley, and says father Inn Keeper , Farsley.
in 1851 William is owner of Talbot Inn, as mother died, but with new wife, Margaret Elizabeth ?? b 1804 Pentoville, Middlesex...
in 1857 William dies, 115 North Parade, Bradford, Margaret Elizabeth Wood , Wife is informant.

cant find her either, the marriage to Margaret Elizabeth East in 1844 is not the correct marriage btw.

Denbighshire / who are Elizabeth Jones parents??
« on: Saturday 28 December 19 20:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all, im at a bit of a loss, i have Elizabeth Jones b abt 1830 according to each census it states born :

1861 : Abenbury Vechan
1871 : Wrexham
1881 :Bersham
1891 : Bersham
1901 : Bersham
1911 : Holt.
i know Elizabeth partner is John Smith, - i cannot find marriage cert, the whitechurch 1856 is not theres!, they had children : Louisa 1862, Albert 1865, Arthur 1866, Adah 1870, Sarah Annie Elizabeth (why only her as long name, also my gt grandmother) 1872. all living in Abenbury Vechan

i believed that baptism b1830 at Bersham to Matthew Jones and Elizabeth Abrahams was Elizabeths parents , however im not so sure as i recieved a message re the parents, and there research takes it that her Elizabeth died young aged 38, and they have research that that Elizabeth father Matthew was church Elder and there son David became a surgeon - i had not even traced them , just the marriage of Matthew and Elizabeth.

am i barking up wrong tree or not, this person was adopted so cannot check DNA, however i have lots of Jones DNA connections but not common ancestors

many thanks
