Hi my ancestor James Howie b1836 Motherwell . His parents married Hamilton . 1827. Does the marriage record mean Hamilton the town of District  ? Is Motherwell in Hamilton? How does Lesmahagow fit in with the area ? Any help much appreciated. Regards Nick

My ancestor James Howie was b 1806 Lanarkshire he was married to a Janet Russell from death certificate  of one of the sons  possibly irregular . Formal marriage Hamilton stopped in 1827 after reading of second banns . Lived in Faskine  old Monkland 1841 . One son was born Motherwell 1836 others Old Monkland . This is all I have and don't  know How to find his parents and also Janet Russell's and find out where exactly they were born . Both James and Janet died in England. Any ideas please 🙏

I have reached a brick wall and would like any advice what to do next. William Hardy married Ann Skelton on 25th April 1779 in Thornton Dale. That's all I have. Trying to get back on Hardy line . Any advice please would be much appreciated.

My mother had a hairdressing shop in seaside lane next to donninis ice cream shop in abt 1935 . She was called Peggy Mawson. She will be 100 in April this year. Previous posts have identified where donninis was , but not sure which side was her shop. Is there any information to find this out or is there anyone that remembers her or the shop. Many thanks to you all.

Does anyone know where this colliery was ? My great grandfather who. worked there and I,d like to go and see where it was. He lived at whitewall grange  which again is not there anymore .  I have found the grave of his 6 year old daughter who was burnt to death . She is buried at Sherburn hospital. Many thanks .
