Completed Census Requests / BIVRI lookup (Bath, Somerset)
« on: Saturday 23 July 05 15:53 BST (UK)  »
Perhaps this is asking too much, so apologies if so, but could someone please look to see if there was a birth of an Ellen ? in Dunkerton, near Bath, Somerset in later 1850 or early 1851? I'm after her maiden name.

She became Ellen Westerman.

Sincere thanks,
Vicky

Completed Census Requests / 1861 Gloucestershire (Bristol) - PORTER
« on: Saturday 23 July 05 15:29 BST (UK)  »
Would someone look at the 1861 census for Priscilla Porter, please? She's about 4 years old, so would have been born around 1857. Mother's Caroline Porter (born 1820), sisters Mary (1850), Caroline (1852) and brother James (1853). All born in Bristol except for Caroline Senior, who was born in Taunton, Somerset.

Hoping to find the father's name.

Many thanks in advance,
Vicky

P.S. 1871 census has them at St Philip and St Jacob, Gloucestershire if that helps at all. :)

World War One / Another WWI MIC - Help!
« on: Friday 22 July 05 20:04 BST (UK)  »
Hoping for some help with explaining this, please. ???

Mack, you were brilliant earlier with the info on both my g-grandads. I hope buying this wasn't a waste of your time or my money, because you told me more than this thing does! There's another card for George according to the NA. Was hoping they'd both be on the same page so I wouldn't have to fork out twice, but nope. Haven't got the other one yet and might not get it unless someone can prove that this one was actually worth paying for. ;)

Thanks in advance,
Vicky

Census and Resource Discussion / What's on a death certificate?
« on: Friday 22 July 05 15:13 BST (UK)  »
Was planning on ordering a few death certificates from the GRO this afternoon, but how much info would they give me? One's from 1853 and the other's from 1891.

Thanks,
Vicky

Glamorganshire / Swansea FHC query
« on: Friday 22 July 05 13:07 BST (UK)  »
Sorry if this is a stupid question guys, but I'm new to all this. :P

I was thinking of paying the Family History Centre in Swansea a visit in the next week or so (and if anyone wants a lookup, I'll be more than happy to oblige). I believe they have trade directories there and, as I'm tracing my mother's family tree and all her lot are from Gloucestershire, would I have much luck finding anything about them? I can't get to Bristol at the moment, and I can't trace my West Glamorgan family because I only have one name to go on and that's Owen (nightmare!) so Gloucestershire it is. :)

The blurb at the website says: "Here readers will find major genealogical resources on microfiche and CD-ROM, such as the Registrar General's index of births, marriages and deaths for England and Wales, 1837-2000; census returns for Glamorgan, 1841-1901; the International Genealogical Index and a wealth of other transcripts and indexes."

So does that mean that the index of BMDs for England and Wales is not limited to just Swansea and might help me with my Gloucester ancestors? I would have thought it was just Swansea.

But if the trade directories will help, it's worth a visit. :)

Again, sorry if it's a stupid question.

Could someone remove that annoying spot on my g-grandad's face, please? I'm sure it's easy enough to do, but I make it worse each time! ::)

Thank you very much in advance,
Vicky

Gloucestershire Completed Lookup Requests / 1861 Gloucestershire - FLYNN
« on: Friday 22 July 05 00:27 BST (UK)  »
Can I be cheeky and request a lookup for about the umpteenth time today, please? :-[ If someone could look for the following man on the 1861 census when they've next got a chance, I'd be ever so grateful.

Henry Flynn, born 1813 in Gloucestershire (probably Bristol)

So sorry to be a pain, but thanks ever so much for reading and, I hope, helping. :)

Completed Census Requests / 1891 Gloucestershire - BARRINGTON
« on: Thursday 21 July 05 23:47 BST (UK)  »
Would it be possible for someone to look for Henry Barrington on the 1891 census, please? He was born in 1852 in Bristol, so would be about 39 on the census. He would also be married, presumably the head of the household and working in some way within the post office.

Thanks in advance,
Vicky

Would it be possible for some kind soul to look at the 1891 census for Elizabeth Larner, please? She was born around 1822 in Bristol and is head of the household. Hoping to find a 30-year old daughter called Elizabeth.

Thanks in advance,
Vicky
