Sorry if this is a stupid question guys, but I'm new to all this.
I was thinking of paying the Family History Centre in Swansea a visit in the next week or so (and if anyone wants a lookup, I'll be more than happy to oblige). I believe they have trade directories there and, as I'm tracing my mother's family tree and all her lot are from Gloucestershire, would I have much luck finding anything about them? I can't get to Bristol at the moment, and I can't trace my West Glamorgan family because I only have one name to go on and that's Owen (nightmare!) so Gloucestershire it is.
The blurb at the website says: "Here readers will find major genealogical resources on microfiche and CD-ROM, such as the Registrar General's index of births, marriages and deaths for England and Wales, 1837-2000; census returns for Glamorgan, 1841-1901; the International Genealogical Index and a wealth of other transcripts and indexes."
So does that mean that the index of BMDs for England and Wales is not limited to just Swansea and might help me with my Gloucester ancestors? I would have thought it was just Swansea.
But if the trade directories will help, it's worth a visit.
Again, sorry if it's a stupid question.
