Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Census place name query

John and Mary Ann are my husband's 3x great grandparents. I am having difficulty reading Mary's birth place and I wonder if anybody could help please. (Other censuses do not help, because they show a different place each time: variously Carbrook, Cranbrook and Shipton.) I have included the entries above and below in case that helps.

The middle entry on this extract is the burial record of my husband's 4xgreat grandfather George Clayton. The part up to 94 yrs is clear, then it looks like "upon his wife" then maybe something about "Hugh" but I've no idea. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Looking for the ENNION (or ENION or ENNIONS) family.

Hello. On my great great grandfather's birth certificate, it says that his mother's maiden name is "Ennion". Some of his siblings' records have "Enion". The 1851 and 1861 censuses say that she was born in Hatton Heath in 1814 or 1818.

I found a baptism for Elizabeth Ennion in 1810, but on Findmypast connects it with a burial in 1837, which would be before any of the family were born. I also found a baptism in Handley for an Elizabeth Enions, which I thought was a possibility. But I can't find her marriage to my 3xgreat grandfather Abel Roberts, or a baptism for her father James and I wondered if there were any records that weren't on Findmypast that someone could help me with. Or maybe she didn't get married and he wasn't baptised.

This extract shows the birthplaces of my husband's great great grandparents. I know the top one from other information: it's "Lincolnshire, Covenham", but neither findmypast nor I can get further than Cheshire on the lower one.
RG10 /3825 Folio 22 Page 37 is the reference.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Relative (possibly Richard Williams) Caernarfonshire

I think one of these men may be my great great grandfather, Richard Williams, who was a stone mason in Caernarfonshire. It's the size of a cabinet card. There's nothing on the back except "Taid" (grandfather) and the small stamp also attached. It came from a set of photos left to my mum, so I'm not sure whose taid he is. Richard was baptised in 1828, but I don't if that helps to confirm whether it's him.

Also, if someone could improve the contrast and clean it up, I would be extremely grateful, because whoever it is, I really like the photo. Thank you.

Caernarvonshire / Birthplace mystery - and other questions

I found my great-grandmother Sarah Williams in the 1871 census (RG10/5708) living in Llaniestyn with her parents Robert and Jane Williams (nee Williams) and his mother, Elizabeth Griffith, who was 77 and born in Meillteyrn. In 1861, it says she was 71 and born in Aberdaron, and in 1851, she was 56 and born in Llanengan. These are not neighbouring parishes, but relatively far apart when you consider walking distances. Also, she was "widowed" in 1851, and unmarried in the other two censuses.

On Robert's baptism record it said that the father was unknown, but on the marriage certificate, it said that his father was William Griffith. Do you think he took the name Williams from his father? And it crossed my mind that they put father "not known" because he was related to Elizabeth, but I don't know where to go, when I have no definite birth place.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I was browsing (transcripts of) some baptism records from the 1690s/1700s, and I came across someone whose occupation was "wild beast". Was there such an occupation, or was it a description of his mental state/criminal activities?

Shropshire Lookup Requests / Help finding Sides - completed thanks

According to various censuses, my gg grandfather Robert Sides was born in West Felton (two) or Ruyton XI towns (one). He married in Llansilin (Denbighshire) and his father was specified as Thomas.

There was a Thomas Sides in the Llansilin area who had some children in West Felton and some in Llansilin. It looks like he may have moved in about 1820. From what I can see, Thomas and Elizabeth married in Oswestry in 1803. (There's no information on their parents, unfortunately.)

Also Robert had his brothers William (b approx 1811) and Timothy (approx 1812) living with him when he was older. But I couldn't find any records for baptisms with father Thomas for Robert, William and Timothy, whether the one I mentioned, or another.

I would be grateful for any help. Thank you.

Family History Beginners Board / Death certificate question

One of my family members, Robert Hughes, was a sea captain whose ship sank going from Ascension island to Newfoundland. (This was sometime in 1904 - the insurance claim to Lloyds was submitted in January 1905.) Where, if anywhere, would his death be registered? Thank you for any help you can give.
