Gaelic Language / Ùidh sam bith ann an leabhar-iùil?
« on: Thursday 13 June 19 17:07 BST (UK)  »
A bheil ùidh sam bith ann an leabhar-iùil sloinntearachd sgrìobhte sa Ghàidhlig? Chan eil mi cinnteach dè an ùidh a bhiodh ann (agus tha mi ach ag ionnsachadh a' Ghàidhlig fhathast!), ach tha mi a’ smaoineachadh mu bhith a’ sgrìobhadh fear aig àm air choreigin san àm ri teachd (ma 's urrain dhomh!). Mòran taing.

For Sale / Wanted / Events / British GENES (GEnealogy News and EventS)
« on: Friday 30 December 11 20:01 GMT (UK)  »
I recently launched a new genealogy news blog entitled British GENES (GEnealogy News and EventS) at http://britishgenes.blogspot.com to replace Scottish GENES, which previously had a good run at four years!

As before, the blog is completely free to access, and I am always willing to run any details on genealogy based news or events, so do drop me a note if you'd like to share something! You can subscribe for a daily email feed of stories, or just dip in as and when. Hope it might be of use and/or interest!  :)

Here's to 2012!

For Sale / Wanted / Events / British GENES blog
« on: Tuesday 13 September 11 15:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi folks, I've been running the Scottish GENES blog at www.scottishancestry.blogspot.com for almost four years now, but today sees the birth of its new sibling - British GENES!

British GENES (GEnealogy News and EventS) is available at www.britishgenes.blogspot.com , with as much free to access news and events from across the British Isles as I can lay my hands on!

Hope it helps with your research, and always happy to hear of news in your area, or an event to promote. It's not quite Reuters, and I don't wear a cowboy hat, but hoping to make it a useful resource for as many as possible! :)

NB: Scottish GENES will not be discontinued - so two news blogs now coming from Largs! :)

Enjoy!

For Sale / Wanted / Events / Scottish genealogy news
« on: Tuesday 31 May 11 13:38 BST (UK)  »
The Scottish GENES (GEnealogy News and EventS) blog at http://scottishancestry.blogspot.com is now in its fourth year and offering free news on all the latest developments in the British Isles for those researching their Scottish ancestry. In 2011 there have already been 356 blog posts so far, and plenty more still to come.

As much as I am keen to share news when I get it, I am equally keen to receive news to share - all sources will be credited!

« on: Tuesday 01 March 11 23:32 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I brought my camcorder with me to WDYTYA? Live and managed to get some interviews with a few folk across the board, which might primarily be of interest to thsoe doing Scottish and Irish research.

Here's the list, and direct links to them on YouTube:

They were recorded for my Scottish GENES blog

there's still a lot of info in there which might be of interest. (Apologies for
the wobblyvision!)
