Dublin / Michael Walsh abt 1833
« on: Tuesday 29 November 16 19:02 GMT (UK)  »
Michael is son of George Walsh 1798-1860 and Elizabeth McCabe 1798-1842. I found baptism at St. Andrews, 27 Oct 1833 but not finding much else.

The siblings I have found are
Stephen Walsh (Mary Anne Murphy) 1819–1875;
Margaret Mary Walsh (Michael Scallan) 1825–1852;
Elizabeth Walsh (Stephen Bond) 1830–1884;
Ellen Walsh (Thomas Richardson) 1836–1877.

He appears to be the person making burial arrangements for his family at Glasnevin Cemetery.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help Reading Statutory Register
« on: Friday 17 July 15 18:43 BST (UK)  »
I downloaded the register record for Harriet Elizabeth Walsh, born in Greenrock, Renfrew, Scotland.  I can make out some information however I cannot read the time of birth or address at time of birth.  I think the word in parentheses next to Ship Carpenter is journeyman? The registration date appears to read January 20th which doesn't fit with the record description of 29 January.  Anybody have a better set of eyes?

Thanks in advance,

Lancashire / Historical Directory Lookup
« on: Sunday 15 February 15 17:37 GMT (UK)  »
Hello -- I am searching for directory listings

    John Patterson living at 184 Great Homer Street in 1891 until his death in 1900.  On 1891 census, he is mis-transcribed as John Petterson, occupation baker.  Baker is his occupation on his marriage certificate in 1871 [in Ireland]. His death certificate and Ford Cemetery Burial register both give his address at date of death as 184 Great Homer Street.  Death certificate gives occupation as joiner.

    James Moore living at 184 Great Homer Street starting in 1891 until sometime after the 1901 census when he moved to 48 Sylvester Street.  Occupation also baker.

All help and guidance greatly appreciated.

Dublin / Catherine Walsh born in Dublin
« on: Tuesday 09 July 13 17:54 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am looking for Catherine Walsh in 1901 and in 1911.  Catherine was the daughter of Stephen Walsh and Mary Anne Murphy.  She was baptized 20 May 1865 at St. Mary RC church in Dublin.  She married 15 Aug 1904 (link to church record http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/reels/st.mary%27s-pro-cath_mf_1862-1881_ma_0634.pdf).

The record shows spelling of her name as Katherine but she also use Catherine or Cate.  The transcription of the record has her husband as James Gillaghy however looking at the church record the name of the groom looks like Gillagly.  I am unable to find that name or variations of that name in Dublin.  She was still alive in the early 1920s as she used to visit my grandmother, her niece, on Seaforde St in Belfast, County Down.

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Dublin / Baptism for same person at both COI AND RC
« on: Monday 25 March 13 21:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Why would a family baptize their children at both COI and RC churches?  My 2nd great-grandparents were living in Dublin at least from 1871, when they married.  They had 6 children, five born and baptized in Dublin.  One of the children born in Ireland died shortly after baptism.  Three of the children were baptized at St. Mary (COI) as well as St. Michan (RC).  I could only find a COI baptism for the William and only a RC for Catherine Agnes.  I know they are these are all same children - addresses and parents are the same.

Mary Ellen Patterson  1872-1912  COI & RC
Elizabeth Patterson  1873-1959  COI & RC
William Thomas Patterson  1875- ?      COI
Agnes Patterson   1877-1877  COI & RC
Catherine Agnes Patterson 1879-1970  RC only

The last child, John was born in Liverpool.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Down / William Carroll
« on: Thursday 01 November 12 20:42 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for William Carroll, born in Ballymacarrett, County Down.

Church record has him born 17 Apr 1898 and baptized 18 Apr 1898.  Civil registration records dob as 24 Apr 1898.  I know that he married and had three children - William, Maureen and I think Albert.  It's possible the name of the wife is Amelia, but not sure.  Maureen emigrated to the US.

I am trying to find his marriage and information about his children.  Any help is greatly appreciated.
